Major Chris Dehart began his law enforcement career in 1995 and joined the Rome Police Department in August of 1999. He has served in many areas of the department including the Patrol Division, Selective Enforcement Unit, and Field Operations Bureau as well as on the Crisis Negotiations Team, Accident Investigations Team, and the Rome/Floyd County Bomb Team, serving as the Assistant Commander of the Rome/Floyd County SWAT Team and Lead Trainer for the Sniper Team.
Major Dehart has served as the Law Enforcement Liaison for the State of Georgia Child Passenger Safety Technician oversight committee, and is a graduate of the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange Program. He has served with the Mountain Area Traffic Enforcement Network of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Georgia Tactical Officer Association, the Northwest Georgia Bomb Squad, and holds numerous certifications including Special Weapons and Tactics, SWAT Police Sniper, and NTOA SWAT Commander. He obtained a Master/s Degree in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University and is a member of the National Tactical Officer Association, FALEFI, GACP, and the IACP.
