  • Myrtle Hill Cemetery Trees Placed on Landmark and Historic Tree Register, Georgia Urban Forest Council, 2018
    • Myrtle Hill Cemetery is home 40 species of trees; many are unique and help classify the cemetery as an arboretum and placement on the Georgia Urban Forest Council's Landmark and Historic Tree Register
  • Bee City USA, Designated in 2017
    • Rome became certified as a Bee City USA affiliate by committing to creating sustainable habitats for pollinators, which are vital to feeding the planet.
  • Georgia's Exceptional Main Streets Program, Selected in January 2014
    • As a Georgia Main Street City, Rome progressed to Georgia's Exceptional Main Streets Program
    • The program provides advanced technical assistance to communities that have been proven leaders in their field of downtown development
  • Preserve America Community, Designated by the Department of Interior in 2004
    • At the time of the award, Rome was one of only four communities in Georgia designated as a Preserve America Community
    • Designations are given to communities that protect and celebrate their heritage, use their historic assets for economic development and community revitalization, and encourage people to experience and appreciate local historic resources through education and heritage tourism programs
  • Tree City USA, Designated in 1990
    • To qualify as a Tree City USA community, Rome meets standards established by the Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters to ensure a viable tree management program
